Brentford was mostly competing in the lower ranks of English football. They were promoted to the Second Division in the season 1930-33, and two years later they entered the First Division. They were FA Cup quarter-finalists four times and three times they were runners-up of the Football League Trophy.

Bristol City was promoted to the Championship League in the 2014-15 after winning the League One. In the same season they won also the Football League Trophy. The best ever in their history of the club was in 1907 when they finished in the second place in the Football League Division One. They won Welsh Cup in 1934, despite being an English Club.

Burton Albion became a member of Football League in 2009. Until then they were competing in the non-League of English Football. In the season 2014-15 they made their way to the Championship since they finished in the second place in the league.

Cardiff City

Cardiff City entered the Football League in 1920, and in 1927 they were the only club from outside the England to win the FA Cup. The most successful period of the club was in its early age, and their decline started after winning the Welsh Cup in 1917.

Norwich City was relegated form the Premier League recently, i.e. in 2016. They were winners of the League Cup in 1962 and 1985. They never won the top flight though, but they did finish the third in 1993.

Nottingham Forest became a member of the Football League in 1892, and won the FA Cup in 1898 and 1959. They are competing in the Championship since 2008, after being promoted from the League One. They won League Cup four times, Full Members Cup twice and the League twice.

Queens Park Rangers were relegated from the Premier League in the 2014-15 where they spend but a year. Their greatest success was winning the League Cup in 1967, and finishing top of the second tier in 1983 and 2011, as well as reaching the final of the 1982 FA Cup.

Reading is one of the oldest English clubs. They competed in the top tier of English football league system first time in 2006-07 season. They won the Championship in 2011-12 season and were promoted to Premier League, only to be relegated one season later.

They won FA Cup four times in 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925 respectively, were finalist in 1901, 1936, and semi-finalist in 1961, 1933, 1998, 2013, 2014. They secured their come back to Championship just recently in 2016-2017 season.

Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic is the youngest club in the Second Division. They were competing in the Premier League from 2005 to 2013. In 2013 they were defeated by Arsenal and thus relegated back to the Championship League. In the same season they won the FA Cup.
